Job Summary
This role involves working at the joint Mass Spectrometry Laboratory of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research and the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics in Frankfurt. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of LC-MS systems, including calibration, quality control, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Day-to-day tasks include processing routine samples, evaluating data for protein identification and quantification, and developing new preparation and LC-MS methods for diverse scientific projects such as shotgun proteomics and metabolomics. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (CTA/BTA), a degree in Engineering, or a Master/Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience with mass spectrometers and HPLC systems, preferably Thermo and Bruker equipment
- Experience in processing routine samples and scientific data evaluation
- Experience in method development for LC-MS and sample preparation
- Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical laboratory systems is preferred
- Experience with DIA/DDA methods, search algorithms, and statistics is an advantage
- Experience in a Mass Spectrometry facility or with liquid-handling automation is beneficial
