Job Summary
This role focuses on the implementation of modern technologies within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically targeting the analysis of histological microscopy images. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for building high-precision image analysis systems and machine learning models to support clinical pathology routines. You will manage and analyze large image datasets, develop prototypes for deep learning methods, and conduct experiments that lead to meaningful conclusions in medical image analysis. The position is unique for its focus on digital pathology, addressing challenges like high accuracy requirements and cellular variability. Based in Vienna, this part-time role (20-25 hours) offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Explainable AI (xAI) and deep learning frameworks in a medical context, with a preference for on-site presence but flexibility for some remote work.
Required Skills
Education
Completed University Degree (e.g., from a Technical University) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics.
Experience
- Professional experience in deep learning for computer vision
- Ideally several years of professional experience, though junior candidates/university graduates are encouraged to apply
- Experience in managing, processing, and analyzing large image datasets
- Experience with prototyping and experimental design in a technical or medical context
- Practical experience with Explainable AI (xAI) methods is preferred
