Job Summary
As a Biostatistician within the R&D Diagnostics division at Roche, you will serve as the analytical engine behind the next generation of medical diagnostic tools. Working in a multidisciplinary environment across global sites like Penzberg, Mannheim, and Indianapolis, you will generate the statistical evidence required for worldwide regulatory approvals of life-saving tests. Your day-to-day involves planning and executing complex statistical analyses, developing analysis pipelines using state-of-the-art methods and machine learning, and programming primarily in R. A unique aspect of this role is acting as a 'Statistical Translator,' where you will present complex findings to partners in Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, and R&D. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior team members and students while contributing to a global 'Community of Practice' to advance programming standards. It is an ideal role for a quantitative expert who enjoys bridging the gap between high-level mathematics and practical medical applications in a regulated, high-impact environment.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a comparable quantitative subject.
Experience
- 5-7 years of professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree in a relevant quantitative field
- 3-5 years of professional experience for candidates with a PhD in a relevant quantitative field
- Professional experience in the management and analysis of large datasets
- Extensive experience in statistical programming, specifically using R
- Proven experience in applying modern statistical modeling techniques within a regulated environment
