Job Summary

This role involves supporting a research group focused on the isolation and characterization of natural products from plants and fungi at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry. Day-to-day responsibilities include extracting biological materials, fractionating extracts, and isolating pure substances. You will also support biological assays, inoculate and cultivate microorganisms and fungi, and handle general laboratory organization. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Biology Technical Assistant (BTA), Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant (PTA), or Laboratory Technician. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry, or Pharmacy.

Experience

  • Professional experience in chromatographic separations such as HPLC and column chromatography
  • Experience in the extraction and isolation of substances from biological materials
  • Practical experience in general laboratory work and organization
  • Experience with analytical equipment maintenance and operation
  • Experience in sterile handling of microorganisms and fungi is preferred
