Job Summary
As the Group Leader for Instrumentation Infrastructure at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II), you will spearhead the design, construction, and implementation of scientific instrument components at one of the world's most advanced neutron research facilities. Your daily responsibilities include managing a specialized team, overseeing budgetary requirements, and acting as the primary liaison between scientific instrument groups and reactor operations. You will lead cross-instrument infrastructure projects and coordinate complex engineering developments involving both internal and external manufacturing partners. This position is ideal for a PhD-level physicist who excels at translating complex scientific requirements into technical reality. Required Skills
Education
Master's or Diploma in Experimental Physics followed by a completed Doctorate (PhD).
Experience
- Professional experience in experimental physics and neutron scattering instrumentation
- Proven experience in personnel management and leadership
- Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional infrastructure and development projects
- Experience in coordinating with internal and external manufacturing partners
- Experience in engineering and documentation of instrumentation projects

Additional
- The position is a full-time (40h/week) fixed-term contract for 3 years. Remuneration is based on the TV-L public service scale. Applicants must be able to work on-site in Garching.
