Job Summary

This role is based at the State School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Chemnitz, focusing on the technical adaptation of educational materials and the maintenance of specialized IT systems. Day-to-day, you will develop accessible learning resources, including 3D-printed models and tactile graphics, while ensuring that all software and hardware—such as screen readers and Braille displays—are correctly configured for students. You will provide 1st and 2nd level support for blind-specific technologies and manage the school's IT infrastructure. This position is particularly unique as it combines technical IT administration with pedagogical support, directly impacting the education of children with visual impairments. The role offers a stable public service contract (TV-L E10), comprehensive training opportunities, and a meaningful work environment within a dedicated team.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, or a related field; OR completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (System Integration/Digital Networking) with professional experience; OR State-certified Technician in Computer Science with professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT infrastructure administration and service desk operations
  • Experience in the creation or adaptation of assistive technologies for the visually impaired is preferred
  • Several years of professional IT experience required if applying with a vocational or technical certification
  • Experience in an educational or public administration environment is beneficial
