Job Summary
As a Materials Laboratory Technician in the automotive sector, you will be responsible for the independent execution of material testing according to test plans and technical drawings. Your daily activities include conducting hardness tests (Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell), metallographic examinations, and spectral analyses to ensure product quality. You will play a critical role in the production cycle by making release decisions for manufacturing, performing crack detection, and conducting residual dirt analyses. Beyond routine testing, you will support damage analysis for reclaimed components and perform initial sample inspections for customers and suppliers. This role is ideal for technical experts who enjoy a mix of laboratory precision and production-floor quality assurance. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Materials Tester, Metallographer, Physics/Chemistry Lab Assistant, or Industrial Mechanic/Mechatronics Technician with relevant further training. Ideally further qualification as a State-Certified Technician in Materials Technology, Metal Technology, or Physics.
Experience
- Professional experience in materials testing or metallography within an industrial environment.
- Experience in creating and applying measurement and test programs for various testing procedures.
- Proven track record in conducting hardness testing and metallographic structure evaluation.
- Experience in quality assurance measures and monitoring QM standards in a series production process.
- Experience in performing material-related damage analysis and root cause evaluation.

Additional
- Must be able to work in a full-time capacity. Role requires adherence to strict automotive industry quality standards (IATF 16949).
