Job Summary

This role is part of the 'RegioNet WasserBoden' project, which focuses on sustainable water and soil management in Saxony's lignite mining regions amidst climate change. As a Nature Conservation and Data Management Officer, you will support the 'Species Protection, Floodplains and Mires' department by processing geographical information and data related to biodiversity, soil protection, and open-land management. Your day-to-day will involve using GIS tools to create maps and documents that support strategic planning and regional development networks. You will also collaborate on interdisciplinary project completion tasks, including publications and events. This position is ideal for professionals with a background in environmental sciences who enjoy combining technical data analysis with practical conservation goals. The role offers a structured induction, flexible working hours with home office options, and the opportunity to contribute to a significant ecological transformation project in a professional government agency setting.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) preferably in Biology, Agriculture, Forestry, Landscape Planning, Biodiversity/Nature Conservation, Geoecology, Soil Science, or Geoinformatics.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the field of nature conservation
  • Practical knowledge and experience regarding soil and soil protection
  • Experience in processing geographical information and using GIS software (preferably ArcGIS)
  • Experience in data management and working with databases
  • Experience in interdisciplinary project work and public relations support

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Valid Class B (car) driver's license and willingness to drive service vehicles required. For foreign degrees, proof of equivalence with a German degree and a valid work permit are mandatory. Fixed-term contract until December 31, 2026 (with potential extension).
