This role offers a unique opportunity to work behind the scenes at the Übersee-Museum, a renowned institution in Bremen. As a Student Assistant in the Natural History Department, you will play a vital role in the digital preservation of the museum's collections. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve the high-quality photography of natural history specimens and the systematic digitization of collection data. A significant portion of the work involves processing and refining data tables using OpenRefine to ensure high standards of documentation. This position is ideal for a student who possesses a blend of technical interest and manual dexterity, as handling delicate natural history objects requires extreme care. The role is part-time (16 hours per week) and offers a fixed-term contract until the end of 2026, providing a stable and inspiring environment for students looking to gain professional experience in a museum or scientific setting.
Required Skills
Education
Current enrollment in a Biology degree program or a comparable field of study (valid certificate of enrollment required).
Experience
- Professional experience or demonstrated interest in photography

- Experience in handling delicate objects with fine motor skills
