Job Summary
This role involves working for the City of Bochum's Civil Engineering Department within the Coordination Office for Road Works (KOST). You will be responsible for the preparation, coordination, and issuance of blocking permits for complex civil engineering projects that significantly impact the main road network. Day-to-day duties include planning and tendering traffic management measures, creating traffic sign plans, and coordinating between internal and external developers to resolve conflicting interests. The position is particularly attractive due to its permanent contract, flexible working hours with home office options, and a salary based on the public service collective agreement (TVöD EG 12). It offers a high degree of autonomy and the chance to actively shape urban development in one of the Ruhr area's major economic centers.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor, Master, or Diploma) with a focus on Road or Traffic Engineering. For civil servants: Qualification for the first entry office of career group 2 in the technical construction service.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in road traffic law, traffic engineering, and general civil engineering.
- Experience in road construction and occupational safety for construction sites.
- Professional experience in planning and tendering for traffic management measures.
- Professional experience in coordinating complex construction projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in project management and moderating high-conflict discussions is preferred.

Additional
- Requires German C1 level proficiency. Must be willing to quickly learn VIA-Baustelle software if not already proficient. Position is based in Bochum, Germany.
