Job Summary

This role involves overseeing the safe, economical, and environmentally friendly operation and maintenance of district heating networks and systems for Stadtwerke Jena Netze GmbH. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and monitoring maintenance, repair, and shutdown measures while managing associated budgets and schedules. Key tasks include optimizing network operations, developing technical concepts, and conducting economic feasibility analyses. A significant part of the position focuses on modernization, digitalization, and decarbonization projects within the heating supply sector. This role is particularly attractive as it offers a clear path toward a technical leadership position (per AGFW standards) within a secure regional utility provider. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Energy Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Engineering, or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).

Experience

  • Professional experience in the operation, maintenance, or planning of district heating or thermal systems is preferred
  • Experience in budget and schedule responsibility for technical projects
  • Proven experience in creating technical documentation and operating instructions
  • Experience in interdisciplinary utility sectors including electricity and heat generation

Additional

  • Must be willing to participate in on-call duty (Rufbereitschaftsdienst). Candidates must have the long-term goal of qualifying as a technical manager for district heating according to AGFW standards. Role is based in Jena, Germany.
