Job Summary
This role involves the operation and maintenance of a large-scale X-ray facility for the Federal Customs Administration at the Port of Duisburg. As a technical professional, you will serve as a Radiation Protection Officer within a three-shift system, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operating permits. Your daily responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components, performing regular radiation measurements, and managing spare parts procurement. Additionally, you may conduct nationwide training sessions on X-ray image evaluation and equipment operation. This position is unique as it offers a path to becoming a permanent civil servant (Beamter) in the German federal administration. Required Skills
Education
Master Craftsman (Meister) or State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) in Electrical Engineering or a related natural science/technical field.
Experience
- Professional experience in electrical engineering or a related technical field
- Ideally 24 months of experience in the operation of electron accelerators
- Experience in a three-shift work environment is preferred
- Experience in maintenance and repair of complex technical systems

Additional
- Must be willing to undergo a 2-year preparatory internship at the start of employment. Requires willingness to perform shift work and undertake multi-day business trips nationwide. Must possess or be willing to acquire radiation protection expertise (special groups S 6.2 and S 6.3).
