Job Summary
The City of Gütersloh is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to head its School Department, overseeing 17 primary and 8 secondary schools. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of 69 staff members and manage all technical, organizational, and financial aspects of the department. Your daily responsibilities include modernizing digital equipment in schools, coordinating school development planning, and managing large-scale construction projects. You will act as the primary liaison for school principals, teachers, parents, and political committees to ensure a high-quality educational landscape. Required Skills
Education
Master’s degree in a relevant field or qualification for the higher general administrative service (Laufbahngruppe 2, 2. Einstiegsamt).
Experience
- Several years of leadership and professional experience, preferably within a municipal school board or educational administration context
- Proven experience in public administration and decision-making structures
- Experience in the analysis and interpretation of data for planning concepts
- Experience in committee work and collaborating with political bodies
- Demonstrated experience in managing large teams and complex administrative processes

- Must possess or be willing to acquire the career qualification for the higher administrative service (Modular Qualification). Recognition of equivalence is required for foreign degrees.
