Job Summary
This role involves establishing and maintaining the technical foundation for innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications at the Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) in Koblenz. As part of a specialized team collaborating with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), you will be responsible for providing the IT infrastructure necessary for the development, operation, and secure use of AI solutions. Your daily tasks include managing Linux-based systems, operating containerization and orchestration environments like Docker and Kubernetes, and integrating AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch into the existing infrastructure. This position is particularly attractive for those who enjoy a hands-on approach to modern technology within a scientific context, offering the chance to work on high-level research projects involving time-series analysis, object recognition, and generative AI. The role is offered as a 4-year fixed-term contract with compensation according to the TVöD E 11 public service pay scale.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH Diploma/Bachelor) in Computer Science or a comparable qualification proven by several years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT administration
- Practical experience in building and operating container and orchestration environments
