Job Summary

As a GIS Specialist within the River Basin Management department in Essen, you will play a vital role in securing the water supply for 4.6 million people. Your daily responsibilities include configuring specialized applications to support water management tasks, performing database migrations, and managing complex spatial data. You will provide technical administration for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), troubleshoot system issues, and support end-users while collaborating on IT-focused project groups. This position is particularly attractive due to its stability within a public-sector employer, offering a 39-hour work week with 32 days of annual leave and a robust benefits package including a company pension and health management. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Geoinformatics or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience with the ESRI product suite and GIS-related software products
  • In-depth experience in database management and administration
  • Experience in scripting and programming for GIS applications using SQL, Python, or Arcade
  • Experience in independent project processing and conceptual planning
  • Experience in user support and system maintenance
