Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to serve as the Technical Lead for new animal experimental and immunological laboratory areas up to Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) at the Robert Koch Institute. You will be responsible for the conceptual design and equipping of labs, managing personnel and equipment resources, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Day-to-day duties involve coordinating maintenance, drafting operating procedures, and implementing analytical methods such as sample preparation and immune technologies. You will also participate in animal research projects and contribute to research publications regarding the 3R principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a State-Certified Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA, or VMTA) or a comparable degree.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience with molecular biological and immunological techniques including ELISA, PCR, and flow cytometry
  • Relevant experience in organizational tasks within a scientific environment, such as budget, personnel, or laboratory management
  • Experience in animal experimental work with rodents (EU Function A/FELASA B) is highly desirable
  • Experience handling infectious agents is preferred
  • Experience in drafting operating concepts, risk assessments, and procedural instructions
