Job Summary

This permanent role within the State Office for Agriculture and the Environment in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern focuses on the administrative and technical enforcement of water law. You will be responsible for issuing water-related permits, licenses, and orders in accordance with federal and state regulations (WHG, LwaG, AbwAG). Your day-to-day activities include supervising first-order and coastal waters, managing hazardous substance emergency responses, and providing expert technical guidance to other regional authorities. You will also draft technical statements for construction and environmental procedures and manage water supervision databases. This position is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys a mix of administrative decision-making and field-based water supervision. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor, FH-Diploma, or equivalent) in Engineering, preferably specializing in Water Management, Land Cultivation and Environmental Protection, or a comparable environmental engineering field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in environmental law, specifically water law, is preferred
  • Experience in administrative enforcement and public administration procedures
  • Proven experience in drafting technical statements and expert opinions
  • Experience in field work and on-site water body supervision
  • Practical experience in emergency response or pollution control is beneficial

Additional

  • Valid Class B driver's license and driving experience required; physical fitness for field service (Außendienstfähigkeit); must be willing to participate in on-call duty (Rufbereitschaft) outside regular hours for water hazard alerts and emergency drills.
