Job Summary
This role involves working at the cutting edge of industrial research and development within the Bochum Institute of Technology (BO-I-T). As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Deep Learning models, specifically focusing on Computer Vision tasks such as semantic segmentation, object detection, and anomaly detection using radar and microscopy imagery. You will also analyze time-series and signal data, collaborating closely with external partners from science, industry, and government. The position offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application. It is ideal for a STEM professional who enjoys a collaborative environment with flat hierarchies and modern hardware. While initially a maternity/parental leave replacement until July 2027, there is a clear goal for permanent employment based on performance. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Experience
- Professional experience in developing, training, and fine-tuning Deep Learning models for Computer Vision tasks.
- Practical experience using Python libraries including NumPy, SciPy, and scikit-learn for data analysis.
- Experience in processing and analyzing image and/or time-series data.
- Experience working with CNN and Vision Transformer architectures.
- Experience in collaborative R&D environments involving scientific or industrial stakeholders.
