Job Summary

This high-level role within the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) focuses on ensuring national cybersecurity resilience through the implementation of the Network and Information System Security Act (NISG). As a technical expert, you will conduct audits, review third-party audit reports, and develop strategic recommendations to improve minimum security standards. The day-to-day responsibilities involve evaluating risk correlation results, integrating technical resources, and defining actionable security measures. You will also represent the ministry in international committees and inter-ministerial projects to advance technical auditing processes. This position is particularly attractive due to its significant impact on national security, a competitive gross monthly salary of over €7,000 (RIVIT 2), and the stability of a permanent civil service contract in Vienna.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor, Master, or PhD) in Computer Science or a related field; or High School Diploma (HTL/Matura) with extensive professional experience.

Experience

  • 9 years of professional experience required if holding a High School Diploma (HTL/Matura)
  • 7 years of professional experience required if holding a Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of professional experience required if holding a Master's degree
  • 3 years of professional experience required if holding a PhD
  • Long-term professional experience in conducting IT security audits or IT security consulting
