Job Summary

This role is based at the National Center for Environmental and Nature Conservation Information (umwelt.info) and focuses on coordinating the technical development and operation of a large-scale environmental portal. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing IT infrastructure, implementing configuration and change management methods, and ensuring operational stability through monitoring, quality assurance, and risk management. A unique aspect of this position is the emphasis on 'Green IT,' requiring the integration of sustainable information technologies into application development and data infrastructure. You will act as a bridge between technical development teams and central IT administration, steering complex projects in an agile environment. This position offers the security of the German public service (TVöD) combined with modern workplace flexibility, including mobile work options and a strong focus on social-ecological transformation and sustainability.

Required Skills

Education

University Master's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Environmental/Bio/Geoinformatics, Mathematics, Physics, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.

Experience

  • Several years of proven experience in the coordination of complex IT projects
  • Extensive experience with agile development models
  • Demonstrated programming experience, specifically with Rust and Python
  • Professional experience in the fields of Metadata, Linked Open Data, and Information Retrieval
  • Experience in strategic planning and interdisciplinary communication
