Job Summary
As a GIS Specialist at the Northern Statistical Office (Statistikamt Nord), you will be responsible for transforming complex statistical data into engaging cartographic visualizations. Your daily work involves creating thematic and interactive maps, dashboards, and story maps for official publications. You will play a critical role in maintaining geodatabases for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, including updating address and street information, managing administrative district boundaries, and organizing electoral districts for elections and referendums. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor/Diploma) with a focus on spatial reference, preferably in Geosciences or a comparable qualification acquired through equivalent skills and experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in using Geographic Information Systems, preferably ArcGIS
- Experience in creating thematic and interactive maps, including layout design and data classification
- Experience in maintaining geodata and administrative registers
- Knowledge of the regional administrative structures of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein
