Job Summary

As a Lead Backend Engineer at N26, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of the backend systems that power one of Europe's leading digital banks. Your day-to-day will involve designing and maintaining high-availability web applications, implementing AI-driven features to empower internal teams, and driving a 'build-it-ship-it' culture. You will work closely with Product and Engineering Managers to manage technical roadmaps, minimize technical debt, and ensure continuous software delivery. This role is unique for its heavy integration of Generative AI tools and coding agents like Claude and GitHub Copilot into the development workflow. Beyond coding, you will act as a mentor for mid and senior engineers, participate in recruitment, and lead initiatives to enhance the company-wide engineering culture.
