Job Summary
As an Information Security Officer for the Aachen Police Headquarters, you will be the central point of contact for all matters regarding information security. Your day-to-day responsibilities include advising department heads and management on identified risks, developing and updating authority-specific security concepts based on BSI IT-Grundschutz (ISO/IEC 27001), and maintaining the Information Security Management System (ISMS) tool. You will conduct risk analyses, perform security audits, and create IT security guidelines for the local police information network. Additionally, you will design and deliver security awareness training for staff and collaborate with PolCERT NRW. This role is unique as it places you at the intersection of public safety and cybersecurity in a cross-border region (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium), offering a secure public service position with flexible working hours and comprehensive health management. The role starts as a full-time position (39h 50m) for one year, reverting to 30 hours per week thereafter.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor, Diploma, or Master) in Cyber Security, IT Security, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT, system technology, or network communication
- 3 years of professional experience in a technical context required for higher pay grade (EG 12)
- Professional experience in Information Security and relevant regulations (BSI, ISO 27001, ITIL)
- Experience in creating security concepts and conducting risk analyses
- Experience in conducting security audits and compliance monitoring

- Class B driver's license required. Mandatory willingness to undergo an extended security clearance (SÜ 2) according to § 11 SÜG NRW. Must have resided in Germany or an EU member state for at least the last five years. Location: Aachen, Germany.
