Job Summary

This role is based at the QUEST Institute for Experimental Quantum Metrology, a joint venture between Leibniz University Hannover and PTB in Braunschweig. As a PhD candidate, you will work on a high-profile research project focused on quantum logic spectroscopy of laser-cooled molecular ions stored in ion traps. Your daily responsibilities include developing and implementing novel spectroscopic methods to investigate fundamental symmetry violations, utilizing concepts like entanglement and decoherence-free subspaces. You will be responsible for the efficient generation of molecular ions, controlling rotational states using millimeter waves, and expanding Python-based experiment control systems (ARTIQ). This position is highly attractive for those seeking an international research environment, offering access to unique infrastructure within the 'QuantumFrontiers' Excellence Cluster and 'Quantum Valley Lower Saxony'. You will have the opportunity to present your findings at international conferences and participate in research stays abroad, supported by a structured doctoral program.
