Job Summary
This is a prestigious, dual-degree PhD position offered through a joint program between the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) and Osaka University in Japan. As a PhD candidate, you will engage in high-level research at the interface of molecular immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. The role involves two specific research tracks: one focusing on transcriptional regulation during immune activation and the other on the molecular mechanisms of immune activation by endogenous retroelements. You will utilize state-of-the-art technologies, including genome-wide mapping tools, advanced imaging, and both in vitro and in vivo assays. This position is unique for its international mobility, requiring a mandatory one-year residency at the partner laboratory in Osaka, Japan. The role offers an exceptional interdisciplinary training environment within the ImmunoSensation Cluster of Excellence and the Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC), providing a clear translational perspective from basic research to clinical application.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or Biochemistry.
Experience
- Professional experience in molecular immunology, biochemistry, or molecular biology research
- Experience with cell-based in vitro and in vivo assays
- Experience in advanced imaging and genome-wide mapping tools is preferred
