Job Summary

The Division of Intelligent Medical Systems (IMSY) at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a Scientific Coordinator to lead the international MEDAL consortium. This high-impact project, funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung, aims to realign medical AI development with real-world clinical needs by establishing a global benchmark for medical imaging AI. As the central point of contact, you will manage organizational, communicative, and operational aspects of the consortium, working at the intersection of computer science, physics, and medicine. Your day-to-day will involve coordinating interdisciplinary research partners, monitoring project milestones, and organizing international scientific events and crowdsourcing activities. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with a background in data or natural sciences who enjoys structuring collaborative processes. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Data Science, Natural Sciences, Medicine, or a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics).

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific project management is desirable
  • Experience in coordinating international and interdisciplinary research consortia
  • Proven track record in monitoring timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Experience in organizing scientific events, workshops, and Delphi rounds
  • Experience in collaborating with administrative departments such as Grants and Legal offices

  • The position is initially limited to 2 years with a possibility of extension. Candidates must provide proof of immunity against measles as per the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Location is based in Heidelberg, Germany.
