Job Summary

This role involves working within the Forensic Science Department (Division 4) of the Thuringia State Criminal Police Office (LKA). As a Forensic Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in criminal investigations by processing DNA analysis requests using advanced molecular genetic methods. Your day-to-day responsibilities include searching for and securing molecular genetic evidence from various items submitted for examination, as well as maintaining detailed logs and photographic documentation of the forensic inspection process. You will also be responsible for the preparative processing of molecular genetic test materials. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MTL), Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), or Biology Laboratory Technician.

Experience

  • Professional experience in handling common molecular biological methods
  • Experience in the scientific-technical field is desirable
  • Experience in searching for and securing molecular genetic traces is preferred
  • Proven experience in implementing contamination avoidance measures

Additional

  • Must undergo a security clearance according to the Thuringia Security Clearance Act (ThürSÜG). Candidates must pass a formal aptitude selection process and an occupational health examination. The position is part-time (30 hours per week) and fixed-term until December 31, 2026. Location: Erfurt, Germany.
