Job Summary

This role is based at the University of Greifswald within the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1270 'ELAINE', focusing on electrically active implants. As a Research Associate, you will conduct day-to-day experimental work involving the fabrication and characterization of conductive polyelectrolyte multilayers. You will investigate how these materials interact with human proteins and study the effects of electrical stimulation on cell adhesion and mechanics using advanced techniques like Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and fluorescence microscopy. The position is designed for candidates pursuing a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) and includes mandatory participation in a structured Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG). This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with various research groups to advance the field of cell dynamics and biomaterials. The contract is for three years at a 65% part-time capacity, offering a structured path toward a PhD in a specialized scientific field.

Required Skills

Education

Above-average Master's degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, (Bio)Physics, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a comparable degree.

Experience

  • Professional experience in experimental scientific work within biophysical chemistry or related fields
  • Practical experience with biophysical methods such as Atomic Force Microscopy and Fluorescence Microscopy
  • Experience in handling cell cultures and liposome preparation
  • Experience in collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams and partners
