Job Summary
The Municipality of Extertal is seeking a dedicated professional to lead the Public Safety and Order department. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing departmental operations, overseeing fire department affairs—including equipment procurement and fire protection planning—and organizing emergency response units for civil defense. Your daily tasks will include field service duties such as investigating regulatory offenses, managing involuntary commitments under mental health laws, and representing the municipality in regional working groups. This position is unique for its blend of administrative leadership and active field work, offering the stability of a permanent public service contract (TVöD EG 11 / A 11). Required Skills
Education
Completed Administrative Training II (Verwaltungslehrgang II), qualification for the first entry level of career group 2 (formerly higher non-technical administrative service), or a qualified university degree suitable for high-level public administration tasks.
Experience
- Professional experience in public administration or public law
- Extensive knowledge in the field of public law, specifically regulatory and safety law
- Experience in leadership or departmental management
- Experience in negotiation and handling high-conflict interpersonal situations
- Proven track record of systematic and solution-oriented work
