Job Summary

This role involves leading a laboratory team at the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office Westphalia (CVUA-Westfalen) in Bochum. As the Laboratory Lead, you will oversee instrumental analysis with a primary focus on HPLC and LC-MS/MS techniques, while also supporting GC and IC areas. Your daily responsibilities include the further development and validation of analytical methods for food, cosmetics, detergents, and animal feed. You will coordinate research projects, participate in proficiency testing, and represent the institution in national technical committees. This position is ideal for a scientist with strong leadership potential and expertise in complex chemical analysis. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master of Science, Diploma, or State Examination) in Food Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific field with a specialization in instrumental analysis.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in instrumental analysis with a focus on HPLC and LC-MS/MS is preferred
  • Experience in the development and validation of analytical methods
  • Professional experience in staff leadership and laboratory management
  • Experience in coordinating projects and investigation programs
  • Experience working within a quality management framework according to DIN EN ISO 17025

Additional

  • This is a part-time position (24 hours per week) with a fixed-term contract for 1 year. Applicants must be able to work at the Bochum location, with a planned relocation to Holzwickede in the future.
