Job Summary
This role involves providing critical IT investigation support to the Steinfurt District Police Department within the Criminal Investigation Division (KK 11). The successful candidate will be responsible for the forensic examination, evaluation, and processing of data seized from computers, databases, mobile devices, and cloud systems. A primary focus of the work involves the analysis of illicit visual material related to child exploitation and violent crimes. Beyond technical analysis, you will support officers with internet and social media research, secure digital evidence, and draft formal documentation for court proceedings. This position is unique as it offers the opportunity to apply advanced technical skills to high-stakes public safety investigations. However, applicants must be aware that the role involves regular exposure to highly distressing and psychologically taxing material. The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract based in Greven, offering flexible working hours and comprehensive public service benefits.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Fachhochschule/University) in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; OR completed vocational training in Computer Science; OR completed vocational training as an Electronics Technician for Information and Systems Technology.
Experience
- Professional experience in information technology, computer science, or electronic systems engineering
- Experience in the forensic evaluation of computers, databases, and mobile devices
- Experience in digital image processing and photography is preferred
- Experience in identifying users within anonymous networks and social media platforms
- Experience in drafting technical reports and legal documentation for court use

- Valid driver's license required. Must be psychologically resilient to handle regular exposure to child pornography and violent content. Fixed-term contract starting May 1, 2026. Location: Greven, Germany.
