Job Summary
This full-time, permanent position within the Niederkassel Wastewater Works involves managing the city's critical drainage and treatment infrastructure. As a Civil Engineer, you will take ownership of the entire lifecycle of sewer construction and maintenance projects, from initial needs assessment through to final billing. Your daily responsibilities include overseeing the construction and repair of sewer systems and specialized wastewater structures, issuing technical and water law permits, and providing expert advice to citizens regarding groundwater and flood prevention. The role is highly collaborative, requiring coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure the safe discharge and treatment of wastewater before it reaches the Rhine. Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Water Management.
Experience
- Professional experience in sewer operations or wastewater engineering is preferred
- Experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of sewer systems and special structures
- Experience in handling administrative permits and technical consulting for citizens
- Experience in independent project coordination from assessment to billing
