Software and Electronics Developer for Autonomous Systems | Softwareentwickler (m/w/d)
Alfred-Wegener-Institut
Job Summary
This role involves the development of cutting-edge autonomous systems for scientific ocean measurement at the Alfred Wegener Institute. As part of the EU-funded HiAOOS projects, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to create a new generation of deep-sea data transmission systems. Your daily responsibilities include designing electronic circuits, selecting control components, and developing hardware-near software to enable real-time environmental data collection from ice-covered oceans. You will bridge the gap between electronics and software, creating communication interfaces and post-processing algorithms. A unique aspect of this position is the opportunity to participate in multi-week ship expeditions to test your developments in the Arctic. This is an ideal role for an engineer or developer who enjoys hardware-integrated programming and wants to contribute to global climate and earth system research in a collaborative, research-driven environment.
