Job Summary
This full-time role at the 'Haus der Natur' Biological Station involves the continuous care and development of nature conservation areas within the Rhein-Kreis Neuss region. As a Scientific Associate, your daily responsibilities will include conducting floristic and vegetation mapping, managing FFH habitat types, and creating maintenance concepts for protected areas. You will act as a vital link between official conservation bodies and local land users, providing ecological advice to the agricultural and forestry sectors. Beyond technical fieldwork, you will engage in public relations through excursions and lectures, and handle data processing using GIS systems. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about active environmental protection who enjoy working outdoors. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diploma/Bachelor/Master) in Biology, Landscape Ecology, or a comparable field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in biotope and FFH habitat type mapping and assessment
- Experience in the scientific supervision and maintenance of protected areas
- Experience in managing nature conservation projects (e.g., LIFE programs or large-scale foundation projects) is desirable
- Practical experience with landscape maintenance equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters is preferred
- Professional experience in ecological consulting for agricultural and forestry stakeholders
