Job Summary

This role is based within the Environmental Office of the City of Bielefeld, specifically within the Surface Water section. As a Civil and Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for the independent processing and approval of permits for facilities located in or near water bodies and construction projects in floodplains. Your day-to-day will involve technical inspections, monitoring individual measures, and providing expert advice to utility providers, builders, and specialist offices regarding the design and placement of water-related structures. Additionally, you will be tasked with the recording, mapping, and surveying of water culverts to maintain a digital register. This position offers a secure, permanent full-time contract within a public service framework (TVöD EG 9b). It is an excellent opportunity for a specialist looking to combine technical field work with administrative decision-making in one of Germany's greenest cities, contributing directly to local environmental protection and flood management.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed further training as a state-certified technician specializing in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, landscaping, or a comparable field relevant to the task profile.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in water management, hydraulic engineering, or a comparable field of activity
  • Specialized knowledge in ecological, water management, and water law sectors
  • Experience in processing permit applications and technical approvals for water-related construction
  • Experience in using GIS and digital mapping services for environmental documentation
