Job Summary

This role involves serving as a scientific expert within the Wesel District administration, focusing on nature conservation, landscape planning, and biodiversity. The successful candidate will develop ecological concepts to secure biological diversity within the framework of European and national climate and agricultural policies. Key responsibilities include the planning and implementation of landscape conservation measures, species protection, and the technical evaluation of planning and permit procedures. You will also coordinate with the Biological Station of the Wesel District, manage funding acquisitions, and oversee the awarding of planning and construction contracts. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape regional environmental policy in a modern administrative setting. It is a fixed-term parental leave replacement until April 2028, offering flexible working hours, mobile work options, and a collaborative team environment. The role requires regular field service, providing a balance between conceptual office work and practical on-site assessment.

Required Skills

Education

University Degree (Master's or Diploma) in Biology (specializing in Ecology, Geobotany, or Nature Conservation) or Landscape Ecology (focusing on Nature Conservation).

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field
  • Experience with nature conservation issues in agriculture and forestry
  • Professional experience in project management and the awarding of public contracts
  • Experience in creating and managing geoinformation data
  • Experience in drafting technical statements for planning and permit procedures

Languages

English (Fluent)

Additional

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to use a private vehicle for field service (with cost reimbursement) if no pool vehicle is available. Must be available for a structured interview scheduled for April 15, 2026. Fixed-term contract until April 8, 2028.
