Job Summary

This role involves supporting a research group focused on the molecular replication mechanisms and clinical transmission pathways of Hepatitis and Coronaviruses. As a Biological Technical Assistant, you will play a critical part in a research program establishing CRISPR-Cas9 systems for high-throughput screening of viral host factors. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing molecular and cell biology experiments, such as PCR, cloning, and the purification of DNA, RNA, and proteins. You will maintain primary and established cell cultures and assist in virological experiments involving the cultivation and modification of viral pathogens. This position is ideal for those looking to contribute to the development of new prevention and treatment strategies for serious human infections. The role offers the flexibility of part-time or full-time work (up to 39.83 hours/week) within a collaborative scientific environment at a renowned research institution.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA) or an equivalent qualification in a related biological field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell and molecular biological laboratory work
  • Practical experience in working with viral pathogens, including virus cultivation and infection experiments
  • Previous experience in laboratory organization and scientific project support
  • Experience with high-throughput screening or CRISPR systems is preferred
