Job Summary
This PhD position offers a unique opportunity to join the Behavioral Neuroscience research group to investigate the cerebellum's role in fear extinction and emotional regulation. As a researcher, you will conduct sophisticated experiments using transgenic mouse models, employing a wide range of techniques including optogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging, and electrophysiology. Day-to-day responsibilities include the independent preparation and execution of experiments, molecular cloning, virus production, and behavioral analysis. You will also be involved in supervising junior students and presenting your findings at international conferences. This role is ideal for a scientifically enthusiastic individual looking to contribute to groundbreaking research on neurological and psychiatric disorders within a collaborative and advanced academic environment. The position is part-time (75%) and fixed-term for 36 months, providing a structured path toward a doctoral degree while working with state-of-the-art neuroscientific methods.
Required Skills
Education
Master’s degree in Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, or a comparable field.
Experience
- Professional experience in planning and conducting animal surgeries, in vivo imaging, and behavior experiments
- Experience in histological techniques
- Experience in animal experimentation and handling (FELASA B certification preferred or obtainable)
- Experience in collaborative research and project planning
- Experience in academic supervision of Bachelor or Master theses is beneficial
