Job Summary
As an Accelerator Physicist, you will join the specialized Accelerator Concept, Design and Commissioning Group to work directly on particle accelerators. Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing beam commissioning, designing and engineering new accelerators, and conducting complex simulations and data analysis. You will play a critical role in risk analysis regarding beam behavior and support the creation of test cases and requirements. This position is unique as it offers the chance to work in a meaningful environment where your expertise in accelerator physics directly contributes to improving patient quality of life through medical technology. The role requires a high degree of flexibility, including on-call support for operations and shift work during commissioning phases. It is an ideal opportunity for a physicist looking to combine theoretical design with hands-on technical application in a medical synchrotron-based facility.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree, Diploma (DI), or PhD in Physics or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in accelerator physics, ideally in medical synchrotron-based facilities
- Experience in the design and engineering of new accelerators
- Experience performing simulations and beam behavior data analysis
- Experience in creating test cases and requirements for technical systems
- Experience providing expert-level support and debugging for operations
Languages
Additional
- Willingness to work on-call (up to 10 days per year) and perform shift work (up to 100% during commissioning phases). Location-based in a medical facility environment.
