Job Summary

As a Senior Staff Engineer for Ion Trap Development, you will join an international Research & Development team focused on making quantum computing a reality. Your primary responsibility involves leading the industrialization of trapped-ion quantum processors and driving the development of cutting-edge ion trap chips. You will play a pivotal role in scaling these technologies toward very large chips and advancing their integration into multichip quantum processing units (QPUs). The role is highly collaborative, requiring you to work closely with top-tier commercial customers and academic partners to co-develop next-generation technologies. Beyond technical development, you will also contribute to the scientific community by supervising Master's and PhD students. This position is ideal for an experienced physicist or engineer who thrives on merging creativity with technical expertise to solve complex problems in the quantum domain. It offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of semiconductor manufacturing and quantum optics within a stable, permanent full-time framework.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in Physics, Quantum Engineering, Computational Physics, or a similar field

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing, Quantum Optics, and / or (trapped-ion) Quantum Computing
  • Professional experience in driving technology development for quantum processors
  • Experience in leading industrialization projects for quantum hardware
  • Experience in supervising Master and PhD students
  • Experience working with commercial partners and academic institutions
