Job Summary
This high-level leadership role involves directing Department II for the Dahme-Spreewald district, overseeing critical public sectors including the Legal Office, Regulatory Office, Veterinary and Consumer Protection Office, and European Affairs. As the Head of Department, you will be responsible for the strategic management, coordination, and supervision of these divisions, ensuring efficient, citizen-oriented operations. Your day-to-day will involve high-level decision-making, financial oversight, and representing the district in public, political, and economic forums. You will work closely with the District Administrator and other department heads to align services with the district's goals. This position is particularly attractive for experienced leaders looking for a significant public service role in a scenic region near Berlin, offering a permanent contract under the TVöD E15 or A16 pay scales. The role demands a personality capable of navigating complex socio-political issues while maintaining loyalty and high performance under flexible working hours.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Administrative Sciences, Law, or Economics. Eligibility for the higher administrative service (höherer Dienst) is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or eligibility for the upper-grade civil service (gehobener Dienst) willing to obtain higher-level qualifications may be considered.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in senior management or leadership functions, preferably at the level of Head of Office or higher.
- Extensive experience in communication and collaboration with representatives from politics, society, and state-level organizations.
- Proven professional experience in one or more thematic fields relevant to the department (Law, Public Order, Veterinary, or Consumer Protection).
- Experience in resource-oriented thinking and independent decision-making within a public administration context.

- Valid driver's license (Class B) required. Position is subject to a probationary leadership period according to § 31 TVöD. Location requires travel between Lübben and Königs Wusterhausen.
