Job Summary

As the Team Lead for Plastic Technology and Design, you will serve as the primary materials expert for thermoplastics, elastomers, and thermosets (SMC & BMC). You will lead an innovative plastic development team, actively shaping the future of plastic technology within the R&D department. Key responsibilities include the technical and disciplinary leadership of the "Materials" team, managing fundamental projects, and overseeing the design and dimensioning of critical plastic components. You will strategically build expertise in elastomers, silicones, and thermosets, identify cost-saving potentials, and coordinate sustainability initiatives within the plastics domain. This role involves advising the Business Unit SI EA on all plastic-related matters and actively maintaining relationships with suppliers, material manufacturers, and institutes. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Plastic Technology or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Plastics (Thermoplastics, Elastomers, Manufacturing Technologies)

Experience

  • Many years of experience in industry or research in thermoplastics/elastomers/thermosets
  • Very good knowledge of material behavior of plastics and plastic-appropriate component design
  • Very good knowledge in injection molding and injection molding simulation
  • Good knowledge in CAD construction and linear and non-linear simulation of plastic components with NX
  • Basic knowledge in topology optimization
  • Leadership experience, ideally leading a team of developers or organizing academic groups/theses
  • Basic knowledge in medium voltage switchgear is desirable
