Job Summary
This role involves leading the 'MoorManBROHT' project within the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. As the primary regional contact for peatland rewetting, you will be responsible for the strategic development and operational management of peatland protection. Day-to-day tasks include project steering, financial oversight, and reporting, alongside the creation of peatland protection concepts and strategies. You will play a vital role in public relations, organizing workshops and excursions to increase awareness and acceptance of conservation efforts. The position is unique for its long-term perspective (until 2033) and its direct impact on climate protection through the revitalization of degraded peatland soils. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Biology, Ecology, Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Soil Science, Hydrology, Landscape Planning, or Protected Area Management.
Experience
- Verifiable professional experience and knowledge in nature or environmental protection
- Experience in peatland conservation, specifically in the revitalization of peatlands
- Proven experience in project management, financial control, and reporting
- Experience in public relations, stakeholder engagement, or environmental education
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and landscape planning
Languages
Additional
- Valid Class B driver's license required. Willingness to work on weekends as needed. Position is fixed-term until February 28, 2033. Full-time or part-time options available.
