This position involves joining the Faculty of Agricultural, Civil, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rostock for the 'ReLiMa' project. The successful candidate will focus on addressing marine litter challenges in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) including Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing scientific studies, mapping waste hotspots, and conducting baseline assessments of plastic pollution. You will lead the monitoring of material flows and support the technical design of pilot recycling solutions such as small-scale plants and take-back systems. The role is highly collaborative, requiring coordination with international stakeholders and local partners to implement circular economy solutions. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's, Diploma, or equivalent) in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field with at least a 'good' grade.

Experience

  • Several years of relevant professional experience in environmental sciences, specifically waste and circular economy
  • Proven experience in conducting scientific research projects, including monitoring marine litter and waste streams
  • Experience in developing sustainable waste management concepts and scientific implementation support
  • Experience in international stakeholder coordination and organizing workshops or training courses
