Job Summary

This role at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) involves working within the Institute for Microstructure Technology (IMT) on the innovative ERC SyG project 'NanoX'. As a Technical Associate, you will be responsible for the preparation and optimization of biological samples, including cell cultures and primary cells from organs. Your day-to-day tasks involve advanced sample preparation techniques such as cryofixation and micromanipulation, followed by analysis using fluorescence and X-ray microscopy. A unique aspect of this position is the responsibility for setting up three new laboratories, ensuring compliance with BSL-1 safety standards and quality protocols. You will collaborate closely with scientific staff to publish research findings. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, or a comparable scientific qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in laboratory work specifically related to the development of new microscopy methods or sample preparation.
  • Experience in cell culture and/or handling organisms (e.g., FELASA certification).
  • Experience in organizing and planning laboratory resources and safety documentation.
  • Professional experience in fluorescence or X-ray microscopy analysis.
