Job Summary

The Urological Research Laboratory at University Hospital Düsseldorf (UKD) is seeking a PhD Student for a DFG-funded project focused on translational uro-oncology. The successful candidate will conduct research into therapy-resistant testicular germ cell tumors, specifically investigating molecular and epigenetic subtypes to identify new therapeutic options and circulating biomarkers. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and performing complex molecular biology experiments using patient materials and human tumor cell lines, employing techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing, mass spectrometry, and DNA methylation arrays. This position is unique as it offers a structured graduate education program at the intersection of basic life sciences and clinical research. Required Skills

Education

Completed University Degree (Master's or equivalent) in Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, or a related field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in standard molecular biology methods for nucleic acid and protein analysis
  • Experience in cell culture techniques
  • Experience in the preparation and bioinformatic evaluation of high-throughput data (e.g., RNA sequencing) is preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently, structurally, and result-oriented in a laboratory setting
