Job Summary
As a Team Lead for Application Development at the City of Nuremberg's IT Office, you will spearhead the digital transformation of a major regional employer. You will lead a team of six developers, providing both disciplinary and technical guidance while remaining hands-on in the development process. Your daily responsibilities include managing the full software lifecycle—from requirement gathering to quality assurance—and overseeing the modernization of custom applications and standard systems like Omnitracker. This role is unique for its blend of strategic leadership and technical contribution within a stable, public-sector environment. You will act as a bridge between technical teams and various city departments, ensuring that software solutions meet the needs of over half a million citizens. The position offers a highly secure workplace with a strong focus on work-life balance, including mobile work options and flexible scheduling.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's or Diploma in Computer Science or Business Informatics; or equivalent qualifications (e.g., IT Specialist) with extensive experience; or Administrative Specialist (Fachprüfung II) with 5 years of IT experience.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in application development
- At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or management role
- Extensive experience in software support and architecture
- Proven experience in project management and requirements engineering
- Professional experience with Windows and Linux server environments
Languages
Additional
- Willingness to work occasional off-hours or weekends for application updates. Must be eligible for public service employment (TVöD/BayBesG). Location-based in Nuremberg with mobile work options.
