Job Summary

This PhD position at the IUF - Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine involves conducting DFG-funded research focused on the impact of environmental factors on lung and cognitive health across the lifespan. Based in Düsseldorf, the role requires active participation in international research efforts, specifically supporting cohort building in three Polish cities and conducting mortality follow-ups in German cohorts. Day-to-day responsibilities include statistical modeling, data analysis, and the preparation of research reports and publications. The position offers a unique opportunity to work within a globally relevant research group investigating gene-environment interactions and the pathophysiology of aging. Candidates will benefit from a structured 3-year contract under the TV-L E13 collective agreement, working approximately 26 hours per week in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary scientific environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Public Health or an equivalent field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in environmental epidemiological research
  • Substantial experience in working with statistical software such as SAS or R
  • Experience in evaluating results and interpreting complex data sets
  • Experience in preparing research reports and meeting presentations
