Job Summary
The Deutsches Theater Berlin, one of the most prestigious German-speaking stages, is seeking a Head of Public Relations and Communications to lead its five-person communication team. In this strategic leadership role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the theater's overall communication and marketing strategy in close coordination with the Artistic Director. Your daily responsibilities include managing seasonal campaigns across out-of-home, print, and digital channels, overseeing the production of all house publications, and managing the communication budget. You will serve as a vital link between the press office, dramaturgy, and development departments to ensure a cohesive public narrative. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the public image of a historic cultural institution (founded in 1883) that is known internationally for its aesthetic diversity and contemporary drama. The role is ideal for a creative strategist with a deep passion for the performing arts and experience in high-level cultural management.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Communication Sciences, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in communication, editing, and content production
- Profound knowledge of work processes within a theater operation
- Experience in budget planning and control within the communications sector
- Leadership experience managing a communications team
- Experience in managing external service providers such as graphic designers and printers
- Proven track record in planning and executing cross-channel marketing campaigns
