Job Summary
This role involves serving as a Cell Culture Specialist within the Cell Culture Core Facility (CCCF) at TU Wien. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of laboratory processes, quality standards, and the technical organization of the lab. Key daily activities include managing laboratory equipment maintenance, coordinating service and calibration work, and providing technical instruction and support to users regarding flow cytometry (FACS) and fluorescence microscopy. You will also manage laboratory supplies, conduct experiments and assays in collaboration with scientific leadership, and support research projects across molecular biology and cell culture domains. The position is unique for its hybrid work model (up to 60% remote) and its central role in building a network between various university faculties and external industry partners. It offers a collaborative environment at a prestigious technical university with a strong focus on professional development.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or a related field
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in laboratory operations within an academic research institution or the pharmaceutical industry
- Multiple years of practical experience in cell culture (mammalian cells) and molecular biology methods
- Proven experience in laboratory management, including procurement, quoting, and vendor coordination
- Demonstrated expertise in operating FACS equipment and fluorescence microscopes
